Welcome to our humble vineyard, more than breathtaking sunrises, Petersen Ranch Vineyards is ultra-premium producer of wine grapes: it’s the Russian River’s ripe, velvety richness; the Sonoma Coast’s crisp minerality; and the Petaluma Gap’s windswept vibrancy, all shaped over century, a legacy of stewardship.
About Our Vineyard
Since 1908, the Petersen’s have farmed the soils of our Sonoma County ranch, raising chickens, Gravenstein apples, jersey dairy cows, and the crowd favorite pumpkins. In the late 90’s Gary Petersen Sr. wanted to take the next bold step by planting 16.5 acres of premium wine grapes in a region not known for such. With the help of vintner Eric Neil, Gary pioneered a new region of wine grapes, continuing the cultivation of a legacy. What Gary soon discovered was the unique location was fertile for ultra-premium wine grapes.
Since then, the family has been committed to sustainable farming practices, ensuring that every grape reflects our unique terroir. The tri-appellated convergence of Russian River Valley, Sonoma Coast, and Petaluma Gap; rooted in Gold Ridge sandy loam, tempered by cooling summer breezes and coastal fog, our Pinot Noir and Chardonnay offer depth, elegance, and complexity born of this land.
